Sulfur Dyes

Sulfur dyes are the most commonly used dyes manufactured for cotton in terms of volume. They are inexpensive, generally have good wash-fastness, and are easy to apply. Sulfur dyes are predominantly black, brown, and dark blue. Red sulfur dyes are unknown, although a pink or lighter scarlet color is available.

I.  Dyeing is started advantageously at 60°C,In the case of dyes which are to be dyed hot, the temperature is raised to the boil slowly and the material dyed near the boil for 45-60 minutes.

II.  Dyes could be carried out at the temperature above 80°C for 45-60 minutes by the initial temperature at 50-55°C.

III.  With dyes which yield brighter and in particular fuller dyeing at low temparature, the goods are entered to the dyebath at 30-40°C, and dyed at 50-60°C for 45 minutes. Also when pale shades are needed, the goods are entered at low temperature and the bath should be heated gradully. In this case, dyeing is carried out best without addition of sodium sulphate.
